Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, CEO and President of ChatGPT maker OpenAI,

Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, CEO and president of ChatGPT maker OpenAI, respectively, recently took to X.com to discuss the recent departure of Jan Leike, arguably the company’s former chief safety officer.

As Cointelegraph recently reported, Lakey was the head of the alignment. He resigned from his position on May 17 due to irreconcilable differences with the company’s leadership.

Among Laike’s claims was the assertion that “the culture of safety and operations has given way to the brilliant products” at OpenAI.

It didn’t take long for Brockman and Altman to respond, as they both took to X.com within 24 hours of Leike posting a response.

As for Brockman’s part, he laid out a long and winding post filled with a three-pronged strategy for aligning safety across the company.

He began by expressing his gratitude for Leike’s work at the company before refuting claims that OpenAI was not focused on safety.

“First, we raised awareness of the risks and opportunities of AGI,” Brockman wrote, noting that the company “called for international governance of AGI before such calls became popular.”

“Second, we have laid the foundations for the safe deployment of increasingly capable systems. Figuring out how to make new technology safe for the first time is no easy feat.

The final part of Brockman’s lecture was to point out that “the future will be more difficult than the past. We need to continue to raise the level of our safety work to match the risks of each new model.

He also noted that the company was not following the Big Tech recipe of moving fast and breaking things. “As we build in this direction, we are not yet sure when we will reach our safety bar for releases, and it is okay if this delays release timelines.”

Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO, kept his message short but mentioned that he would have more to say on this topic in the coming days:

“He’s right”. Altman posted, referring to Likey’s comments, adding: “We have a lot to do; “We have a lot to do.” We are committed to doing so.”
